Job Description
Responsible for data collection and data quality in the reporting of births, deaths, and fetal deaths. The registrar secures paternity affidavits and communicates with new parents, physicians, vital statistics, funeral homes, and health departments. Responsibilities include accounting for disclosures of the data. A High School diploma is required; an Associate's degree and RHIT certification are preferred.
Good communication and customer service skills are necessary, along with the ability to abstract data and perform data entry tasks. Proficiency in Word and Excel is required, along with one to two years’ experience in an acute care facility. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Basic computer knowledge/skills and previous experience with electronic medical records are required. Additional duties may be assigned.
Work environment involves no exposure to blood and/or body fluids. Requires constant hearing, speaking, vision, and repetitive hand movement. Attention to detail is required despite frequent interruptions.
