Fives North American Combustion, Inc. is hiring a permanent, full-time Buyer to join our team in Cleveland, OH.

Your Role
- Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
- Prepares purchase orders in SAP or bid requests.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Acts as a liaison between manufacturing/engineering and the supplier.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc.
- Work with manufacturers or persuade potential vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom-designed items according to user's specific needs and specifications.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Expedite delivery of goods to users.
- Supplier setup in ERP system.
- Assess demand for categories of responsibility.
- Issue purchase orders to suppliers.
- Issue acknowledgements.
- Work with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered timely and accurately.
- Identify and develop new suppliers.
- Work with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products.

- 5-10 years experience.
- Ability to work well with a team.
- Able to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with importing into the US and familiarity with INCO terms.
- Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforms.
- Experience with SAP ERP is highly desirable, but not required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read bills of material and routings.
- Experience in manufacturing - job processing, shop floor management, manufacturing processes – helpful.
- Integrity: Deal with others in a straightforward and honest manner, accountable for actions, maintaining confidentiality and supporting company values.
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor's Degree required.
