Job Overview:
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Recreation reports directly to the Associate Dean for Student Engagement and New Student Orientation. The Assistant Director advises the Student Government Association (SGA), oversees funding requests from student organizations, and co-manages the student activities fee budget. Responsibilities include creating, managing, and planning non-varsity student engagement programs and promoting events on the activities calendar. This position supports campus-wide programs such as New Student Orientation, Welcome Weeks, and Homecoming & Family Weekend, among others. The Assistant Director also supervises and trains clubs, organizations, and the Campus Recreation Intern(s).
Essential Functions:
- Serve as adviser to the Student Government Association (SGA)
- Manage Campus Recreation, Intramurals & Fitness Programs
- Collaborate with the Department of Athletics to execute engagement activities
- Train student organizations in bylaws development and program execution
- Manage the allocation of funds for student organizations
- Assist in selecting and training Orientation Leaders
- Assist in the operation of the Hubert Campus Center
- Maintain and archive club member records
- Update the Office of Student Engagement web pages
- Collaborate with the esports advisor on tournaments and club advisement
- Assist with office social media management
- Create new programs and traditions for students
- Represent the Office of Student Engagement at institutional events
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2 years of related professional experience in education, preferably higher education
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Availability to work nights and weekends as needed
Education:
Bachelors Degree required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in student engagement and with student government
- Experience with New Student Orientation programs
- Technical proficiency with software applications
Work Schedule Requirements:
Hybrid Availability: Remote work is potentially available.
