SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant is an essential component of the healthcare team responsible for assisting with primary care operations in the Curative clinic. The Medical Assistant is responsible for triaging patient calls, conducting member outreach and facilitating an efficient clinic workflow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with stated medical plan of care utilizing to assess, implement, and record patients' response in the medical record
- Schedules patients' appointments, tests, and procedures as needed
- Send and obtain medical records from other practices
- Reinforces physician instructions in person and through telephone or SMS messages
- Provide education on nutrition, physical activity and other lifestyle habits
- Consult with the assigned provider or the supervising physician regarding complex patients with urgent needs.
- Answer phones and assist with patient requests.
- Prepares equipment and assists physicians during physical exams and medical procedures.
- Prepares and administers medications or vaccinations as prescribed by providers.
- Inspects equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety, proper functioning of equipment and full compliance with relevant regulations
- Maintains adequate stock of supplies as required
- Attends and participates in meetings related to clinical activities.
- Follow up with patients to assist them in implementing plan of care
REQUIREMENTS
- Current Medical Assistant certification
- Must be detail oriented and able to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative environment.
- Comfortable with learning and using new technology and software.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Experience within Primary Care Clinic setting
- Experience working with telehealth services
- Bilingual (Spanish)
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
8am to 5pm (some flexibility available as determined by the needs of the clinic)
