JOB SUMMARY:
The Loss Prevention Investigator will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and preventing theft, fraud, and other forms of loss in a large retail environment. This position involves conducting investigations, collaborating with store teams, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The investigator will work closely with management and local law enforcement to protect company assets and minimize losses.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead investigations into suspected theft, fraud, and policy violations. Gather and document evidence, conduct interviews, and assess risks.
- Implement and monitor loss prevention strategies to minimize inventory shrinkage and improve store security practices.
- Monitor surveillance systems to identify suspicious activity and detect potential loss. Review video footage and gather intelligence to support investigations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of investigations, including incident reports, witness statements, and action plans. Prepare and submit reports to management on findings.
- Work closely with local law enforcement and security personnel in the investigation and prosecution of criminal activity, as necessary.
- Provide training to store associates and management on loss prevention practices, theft deterrence, and company policies. Promote awareness of security protocols to help prevent losses.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, loss prevention protocols, and all applicable laws. Participate in audits and inventory counts to assess vulnerability and recommend improvements.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
- Proficient in the use of surveillance equipment and loss prevention systems.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in documentation.
- Certification in Loss Prevention (CPI, LPC, or equivalent) is preferred.
- This position requires up to 90% travel.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field. Experience in retail loss prevention or investigations is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in criminal justice, security, or related field preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must frequently use their hands to handle or feel objects and must be able to speak and hear clearly.
- The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- The employee must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
