Job Description Summary
The Jiang Lab at the Medical University of South Carolina aims to understand the role of microbiome, inflammation, pathogenic autoantibody, and B cell dysfunction in human disease immunopathogenesis, HIV and SLE. The staff scientist will conduct HIV and SLE projects in the lab, train the lab members, and help run the lab.
MUSC Minimum Training and Experience:
A Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent with two years post doctorate experience.
Additional Knowledge, Skill, Ability Preferred:
- The ideal candidate is to have the experience of doing experiments related to immunology or molecular biology.
- Detailed-driven.
Guideline and Supervision:
- Maintain daily research work under the guidance of the PI.
Job Duties:
Maintain lab routine work, and apply for lab safety documents (20%)
- Routine lab maintenance (i.e., autoclave, tip preparation, liquid nitrogen tank refilling).
- Support for lab safety applications.
Conduct immunologic and molecular biologic experiments in human studies and collect and analyze data (30%)
- Assays such as qPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA.
- Report research results to PI every week.
- Staff scientists and postdoc need to analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and present work at conferences.
Conduct immunologic and molecular biologic experiments (i.e., western, IF, qPCR) in animal studies and collect and analyze data (30%)
- Assays such as western, IF, qPCR, mouse strain breeding, genotyping, and maintenance.
- Report research results to PI every week.
- Staff scientists and postdoc need to analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and present work at conferences.
Refine and standardize existing experimental procedures and train new lab members (20%)
- Maintain protocol.
