Job Summary:
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology seeks a driven and dedicated Research Services Entry Professional to work on research focusing on mechanisms and models of kidney injury, with a particular focus on cellular and micro-physiologic approaches to vascular injury in kidney tissue. The successful candidate will become a member of a research team within the Departments of Pediatrics and Nephrology. Functional supervision will be given by the principal investigators and other staff. This is a full-time position starting in early 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run standard laboratory techniques including (but not limited to) ELISA, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, immunoblotting, cell culture, PCR, and enzymatic plate assays. Any additional training will be provided as necessary to the successful candidate.
- Engineered microvascular models are part of the lab focus, with opportunities to be involved in the fabrication and utilization of such platforms.
- Most of the work involves cell culture experimental models, but opportunities to expand research into experiments into animal models of disease and clinical samples will be available.
- Work in this lab focuses on the roles and regulation of kidney endothelium in kidney injury, with a particular focus on microvascular injury.
- Creatively identify laboratory solutions.
- Review, develop, and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects.
- Assist Team Leads, Supervisors, and/or management with the creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in molecular biology, cell biology, tissue culture techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated aptitude in following and troubleshooting research protocols.
- Technical proficiency in safely and accurately performing experiments.
- Reliable and detailed record-keeping.
- Ability to analyze and interpret experimental results.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Manuscript writing and presentation opportunities will be available, with collaborative support from supervisors in improving and refining these skills.
- Excellent record-keeping and support in lab management.

Anticipated Hiring Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $45,000 to $57,240. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
