The Museum Presenter has a primary role to deliver presentations and programs to the public in both daily and evening event settings, and to represent The Henry Ford in a positive manner while providing the highest level of customer service to all guests, fellow employees and volunteers. Museum Presenters conduct presentations that inform, educate and entertain based on guidelines and training set by The Henry Ford that may include operating historical machinery and engage in civil rights topics. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the successful operation of the Venue Operations Unit as a member of the Museum Programs team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Delivers mission-based historical presentations that align with The Henry Ford’s focus on innovation Presentations, tour, and interactive content delivered in alignment with the training and skills provided by The Henry Ford
  • Presentations may require the demonstration of historical equipment and processes including machinery operation; hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) interactives and demonstrations; successful use of historic and exhibit components; use of electronic devices such as tablets; group and tour facilitation; and other activities as necessary to ensure engagement with our guest
  • Ensures cleanliness and operation of the daily work site and performs related operational tasks such as maintenance, preparation, clean-up and other duties as necessary
  • Delivers exceptional hospitality and quality service to guests, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience
  • Maintains the safety and security of guests and staff by applying appropriate knowledge, skills, and actions
  • Safeguards artifacts, structures, and landscapes, ensuring their preservation and protection from damage
  • Maintains regular communication with department members and leadership to address operational challenges, share insights, and contribute to the assessment and improvement of departmental programs
  • Attends required unit, department, and work team training sessions
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork by collaborating effectively with colleagues, supporting their success, and sharing expertise within and across teams as needed
  • Engages in continuous learning, effectively synthesizing and delivering new content through thorough preparation and strong memorization skills
  • Exhibits adaptability in responding to unforeseen staffing requirements as directed by the supervisor, including executing scheduled programming and providing support for colleagues, while upholding a commitment to punctuality
  • Actively contributes to the effective management of challenges, issues, and opportunities within the team

Your Qualifications

  • 18+ years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Part-Time availability

Special Skills

  • Ability to take and follow instructions while strictly adhering to all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Skilled in engaging with diverse guest groups, including individuals of all ages and those with accessibility needs
  • Demonstrates maturity and the capability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in verbal and interpersonal communication skills effectively with visitors across all age groups
  • Possesses exceptional public speaking and presentation skills
  • Exudes approachability, friendliness, and a positive demeanor
  • Strong acting or role-playing abilities and proficient manual dexterity are advantageous
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for the The Henry Ford’s mission, vision, values and service standards
