Position Summary
Keep Our Spaces Safe and Strong: Become a Facilities and Safety Manager!
Are you a proactive leader with a passion for creating safe, efficient environments? The Veterinary Health System at Colorado State University is looking for a Facilities and Safety Manager to oversee the operations that keep things running smoothly.
This position will coordinate and oversee facilities operations and maintenance, safety, security, and custodial needs and activities for the buildings and infrastructures of the Veterinary Health System, located on CSU’s south and foothills campuses.
The prime objective is to ensure and execute superior customer service as a priority in helping faculty and staff achieve their goals.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
A signing bonus and relocation expenses may be available for eligible and successful candidates.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience managing facility operations, including supervising work teams.
- Three (3) years of experience with skilled trade work.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Experience in Higher Education with understanding of facilities services.
- Experience with small to mid-level capital construction projects.
- Experience in a veterinary hospital or laboratory facility.

Essential Duties
Operations
- Oversee daily operations for facility and maintenance services.
- Manage and maintain the work order system across multi-unit functional areas.
- Coordinate facilities projects with the appropriate personnel.
- Partner with CSU Facilities, Tetrad and/or CVMBS leadership to manage processes and address current issues.
Supervision
- Supervise mid-level supervisors and staff.
- Establish effective orientation and training plans.
- Conduct and/or request corrective or disciplinary actions as necessary.
Facilities Safety
- Assess and assure building safety and security.
- Coordinate annual building fire evacuation drills.
- Understand and assure compliance with regulatory facility requirements.
