As Head of Packaging, you will be accountable to develop our area packaging vision & mission, create and implement the packaging strategy, roadmaps, governance & processes for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging to achieve the company ambition to become industry leader. Being a complete new position for Sanofi, you will have to transform the organization mindset and create a culture where end to end packaging is part of the DNA and patient centric.

Main responsibilities:

  • Elaborate, recommend, get endorsement and lead the long term (4-15 years) packaging strategy, guidelines and roadmaps for packaging in collaboration with multifunctional stakeholders (commercial, R&D, HSE, manufacturing sites, MSAT, QA, finance, supply, CMO, RA, Public Affairs…) and in alignment with the company’s ambition.
  • Translate the overall strategy into a project pipeline including prioritization.
  • Lead and implement end to end packaging platform solutions to enhance the patient experience and reduce our environmental footprint and drive efficiency for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging for new products and life cycle management, working closely with internal stakeholders (MSLT, Site leaders, Commercial, R&D, M&S…).
  • Bring relevant packaging insights (patients, customers, NGOs, regulators etc.) to inform the strategy.
  • Scout the external environment for innovations in materials and solutions to be integrated in new product pipeline, leveraging his/her end to end pharmaceutical/chemical background (formulation, manufacturing, regulatory…).
  • Foster a culture of end to end packaging within GDPU and beyond through ongoing organizational communications, education and awards.
  • Set up the organization and be the place to be for talents.

About you

  • Master or PhD level qualification in engineering, materials or other relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in driving packaging strategy and initiatives within large Pharma/FMCG/FMCH companies
  • International Business experience
  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent, influence across functions and into external networks (trade associations, suppliers…)
  • Languages: fluent in English, French is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience leading cross-functional projects / programs and teams within a matrix environment
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal negotiation, and partnering skills
  • Ability to challenge conventional thinking and make tough decisions
  • Proven track record in transforming complex business processes within a multinational context
