This Postdoctoral Associate position is within the laboratory of Dr. Ching Zhu, a physician-scientist in the Duke Cardiovascular Research Center. The Zhu Lab pursues interdisciplinary research centered on unraveling the mechanisms by which the sympathetic nervous system controls susceptibility to lethal cardiac arrhythmias. The ideal candidate is a dedicated scientist with an interest in working directly with the PI on applying cutting-edge neuroscience techniques toward studying the nervous system of the heart.
Qualifications:
Education
5 years or less from a PhD or MD/PhD Degree with a background in cardiac biology, neurobiology, bioengineering, or related field
Experience
- Interest and background in working with murine models required
- Familiarity with histology, advanced microscopy, qPCR, as well as the execution and analysis of RNAseq/scRNAseq preferred
- Experience with electrophysiology preferred but not required
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with proven ability to prepare research manuscripts and presentations
- Capable of working independently on assigned projects while thriving in a team-oriented environment and providing supervision to junior trainees
