Field Service Technician II

MEPPI’s Service Center Division (SCD) is seeking a dynamic Field Service Technician II to perform service support activities, troubleshoot, and repair IT Cooling products and electro-mechanical equipment. This role also includes providing scheduled technical sales or service support for our valued customers.
What You’ll Do:
Deliver On-Site Support: Perform start-up services, preventative and remedial maintenance, field modifications, and testing of IT Cooling products at customer sites.
Troubleshoot with Expertise: Diagnose refrigeration and electro-mechanical equipment issues using schematics, mechanical drawings, troubleshooting documents, and hand-held or computer-based test equipment.
Handle Refrigerant Systems: Perform repairs and maintenance, including leak detection, reclamation of refrigerant, evacuation, and charging of R410A systems.
Fix HVAC Systems: Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC electric, control systems, and other engineering products.
Perform Key Refrigerant Tasks: Reclaim, measure, charge, pressure test, and evacuate HVAC units as needed.
Provide Technical Support: Offer expert guidance to internal and external customers, including third-party service organizations and end users.
Inspect and Test: Examine returned products, components, and systems to determine defects or operational status.
Be On-Call for Emergencies: Schedule and deliver emergency technical support and field service on an on-call basis.
Document Thoroughly: Maintain service records and prepare documentation related to installation, testing, repair, and customer support.
Support Field Projects: Assist with power equipment projects when required.
Submit Reports Accurately: File timely and accurate expense reports in compliance with company policies.
Be a Positive Representative: Further the goals and positive image of the division by conducting business cooperatively with other MEPPI departments, customers, and suppliers.
What You Bring:
Education: Associate degree in HVAC, Electrical, Electronics, or a related technical field, with 2-5 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems—or equivalent education and experience.
Technical Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems through experience or successful completion of technical training courses.
Certification: EPA Section 608 certification is required.
Proficiency with Tools: Advanced knowledge and proficiency with mechanical and electronic test equipment.
Technical Reading Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
Problem-Solving: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
Communication Skills: Advanced interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with customers, employees, and vendors.
Tech-Savvy: Intermediate computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office products, timekeeping systems, and expense reporting systems.
