Description

The Chief of Staff (COS) will partner with the Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Care in leading strategic initiatives that advance clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient-centered care. The COS will serve as a key strategic advisor and executive leader, driving complex initiatives that shape the future of ambulatory care services across the health system.

Key responsibilities of the COS include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development, execution, and continuous refinement of strategic initiatives that align with UCLA Health's mission, vision, and long-term goals. Partnering with health system executives and senior leaders to drive innovation, growth, and expansion in ambulatory care services
  • Overseeing a diverse portfolio of complex, high-impact projects and initiatives across the health system and ensuring optimal resource allocation, budget management, and alignment with organizational objectives. Leading the development and implementation of operational workflows, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conducting complex data analysis, generating insights, and providing strategic recommendations to guide executive decision-making. Utilizing data analytics to monitor performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive continuous quality enhancement
  • Fostering collaboration across departments, affiliates, and external partners to create a cohesive and aligned approach to care delivery. Serving as a liaison between the CMO-AC and internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and strategic alignment
  • Mentoring and developing high-performing teams, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation. Overseeing workforce development strategies, including resource planning and talent management

Salary Range: $83,800 - $179,400 Annually

Qualifications

We're seeking a self-motivated, collaborative, team-oriented administrative professional with:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MPH, MHA, MBA, or other related master's degree required
  • Minimum of seven years of healthcare project management experience and 5 years of relevant management experience are preferred
  • Experience in managing the complete lifecycle of a project, including directly or indirectly leading cross-functional teams preferred
  • Experience leading, facilitating, and implementing new programs and projects in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated experience in using advanced analytics to support strategic decision-making, improve operational performance, and enhance patient outcomes. Proficiency in data analysis, health informatics, and the development of dashboards, KPIs, and other performance metrics is essential
  • Skill to research and analyze information, problems, situations, and procedures to define objectives, identify patterns, and formulate conclusions
  • Excellent oral and communication skills to obtain and convey correct and complete information and concepts to individuals and groups in formal and informal situations
  • Ability to make presentations to senior and executive management
  • Excellent resolution skills to plan activities among individuals and groups in various working relationships
  • Skill in negotiating, exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions
  • Prior experience managing employees, including selection, training, work assignments, review, motivation, and performance appraisal
  • Demonstrated skill (intermediate to advanced level) in using software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications, project management platforms, customer relationship management systems, database management, and analysis or equivalent.
  • Skill in working with complex organizations to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to interact diplomatically and empathetically with a patient population in varying degrees of health and effective communication with staff, faculty, and the general public in conveying information to varying organizational levels
