Summary

The Quality Project Coordinator serves as an internal specialist to the Clinical Effectiveness Department. This position encompasses project management, data abstraction, data analysis, report development and dissemination, and other quality improvement activities. The Quality Project Coordinator establishes collaborative relationships with leaders, key stakeholders, frontline staff, and providers. The quality project coordinator also assists with activities related to continual survey readiness and performance improvement activities required by external agencies. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in healthcare related field or Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • 1 year of experience in a health care setting as well as experience in process improvement and project management.
  • Excellent written communication skills, organizing, data management, and analytic skills.
  • Able to analyze data for reports using software such as Microsoft office or other statistics programs.
  • Excellent communication skills; interact effectively with others even in difficult situations.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Current registered nurse license, pharmacist doctorate license, speech language pathologist license, physical therapist license, or occupational therapist license
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)

Responsibilities

  • Provides project management for process improvement initiatives in partnership with the medical staff, hospital departments and committees or task forces.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and reports data collected across the organization to improve the understanding of current state, drivers, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collects data and reports to external benchmarking agencies.
  • Monitors data systems to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, facilitating quality improvement, identification, and dissemination of best practices, fostering scientific inquiry for improving patient care and care delivery system.
  • Functions as a performance improvement expert, manages, plans, and executes all performance improvement activities utilizing the Lean Six Sigma performance improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and hospital departments to develop quality plans and identify opportunities based on best practices and national benchmarks.
  • Utilizes literature and comparative benchmarking data to identify best practices and specific areas of opportunity by focusing improvement initiatives on the effective management of the cost and quality of patient care.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, and other documents required to support quality and clinical effectiveness.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and committees, develops and promotes educational materials for quality improvement activities, lead task forces as needed.
  • Supports regulatory readiness and accreditation surveys.
  • Other organizational initiatives as assigned.
