Solutions include: Design, installation, and support services of network infrastructure (fiber/copper cabling), audio visual systems, electronic security, wireless and professional/managed services.
The Director of Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs and initiatives across the organization. This role ensures that the workplace is compliant with all relevant safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and protects employees, contractors, and visitors from accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. The Director of Safety works closely with other departments to ensure safety measures are effectively integrated into day-to-day operations.

Individual pay rates will, of course, vary depending on the skills, experience, certifications, specific licenses, internal equity, and education of the applicant.

The Director of Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs and initiatives across the organization. This role ensures that the workplace is compliant with all relevant safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and protects employees, contractors, and visitors from accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. The Director of Safety works closely with other departments to ensure safety measures are effectively integrated into day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Safety Program Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs, regularly assessing their impact and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Work with Fleet Management team to build and monitor a fleet and driver safety program.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay current on safety regulations and industry standards to ensure the organization meets all health and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with internal and external safety standards.
- Ensure that all safety reports, records, and logs are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential safety risks and hazards across the organization.
- Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and work to identify root causes to implement corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to mitigate hazards and minimize the likelihood of accidents.
- Work with the Fleet Management team to help analyze and provide input for any risk when it comes to fleet and driver safety program.
- Training & Development:
- Design, implement, oversee, and monitor employee safety training programs, to include a company standard of mandatory certifications for teammates, to ensure that all staff members are trained in proper safety procedures and protocols.
- Provide ongoing safety education, awareness programs, and emergency response drills.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous communication, education, training and engagement with employees.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop, implement, and manage emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and first-aid training.
- Coordinate and oversee safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises, ensuring that employees are familiar with protocols.
- Safety Equipment and Technology:
- Ensure the availability, functionality, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety tools, and machinery.
- Oversee the procurement and maintenance of safety equipment, ensuring it meets at a minimum regulatory standard.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Generate safety reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies as required, detailing safety performance, incidents, and improvements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, including injury logs, accident investigations, and training certifications.
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the safety team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages accountability and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with department heads, HR, operations, and other key stakeholders to integrate safety practices into everyday business activities.
- Advise management on safety-related matters, ensuring that safety concerns are addressed in all operational and strategic planning.
- Works with other groups within the Centralized Operations Team for safety training/s and safety certification tracking.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in safety management or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience managing large-scale safety programs, conducting au
- it, and overseeing compliance in a multi-site or industrial environment.
- Certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
- OSHA certifications (e.g., 30-hour,40-hour HAZWOPER, 500-hour) are advantageous.
- Certified Safety Manger: Construction (CSMC)
- Certified Safety Director (CSD)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor-BL-r.21
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards (OSHA, NFPA, EPA, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
- Proficient in safety management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Typically works in both office settings and operational areas (e.g., factories, construction sites, warehouses).
- May be required to travel to different work sites to conduct inspections, audits, or safety training sessions.
- This role may involve physical demands, such as inspecting equipment or conducting safety drills.
