Job Overview:

Assist the staff nurses and directors by performing specific clerical functions for assigned areas. Performs all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for all patients in L&D. Responsible for collecting proper data to insure hospital bills will be paid by a third-party payer or the patient. Provides "front-door" customer service to patients and orients patients to the registration/admission process. Performs scheduling functions of new and follow-up patients and discharges patients accordingly. Responsible for identifying, collecting and reconciling patient liabilities on a routine basis. Performs billing functions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High Diploma
  • Completion of all NBIMC Orientation requirements
  • Completion of CPAR within 6 months.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Some Computer Knowledge

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift- 11:00pm 7:00am
  • Monday Friday with every other weekend/holidays
  • Full Time/ Night

Essential Functions:

  • Contributes to the unit's overall patient satisfaction score by doing regular rounding, escalation of complaints and providing service recovery
  • Performs chart maintenance/chart assembly/chart reports/chart thinning according to policy
  • Promotes patient flow efforts by actively participating in patient movement and escalating barriers to management
  • Promotes patient satisfaction through individual activities as evidenced by feedback from patients and families
  • Transcribes physician orders
  • Responsible for follow-up on missing physician documentation and unsigned nurse notes and validating and reconciling all L&D charges by reviewing the medical record
  • Reviews all L&D medical records and add appropriate charges and level assignment
  • Obtains Advance Medical Directives and scans into RAS
  • Enters and reconciles charges for inpatient, observation and treated and released accounts the day after L&D visit and ensures that the patient or responsible party signs all appropriate documents and scans them into the RASI system
  • Greets patients and visitors in a timely and courteous manner and demonstrates the ability to collect required co-payments/fees and provide receipts; ability to enter the patient's demographic/insurance and verify patient's insurance benefits
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance companies, state & federal healthcare regulations and requirements
  • All other duties as assigned
