About the Opportunity

As a AutoCAD Mechanical Drafter for Signal Metal Industries, Engineering Department, you will be an important member of the team that interprets mechanical assembly drawings and drafts individual piece parts for manufacturing. You will work closely with Project Managers who are responsible for the overall build plans of each job. In addition, you will detail parts on our O.E.M. designs from our department.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings for missing dimensions and/or discrepancies.
• Draw 2D patterns from customer drawings according to Signal Metal Industries Standards.
• Update existing patterns per revisions.
• Enter pattern data into our ERP system.
• Calculate flat pattern layouts using hand calculations, AutoCad, or Inventor.
• Assist our manufacturing department by creating templates and fixtures.
• Measure existing products and draft them in AutoCad or Inventor.
• Review and organize Detailed Sales Order Reports.
• High school degree required. Associates or 4-year degree preferred.
• At least 3 years work experience working on the job with AutoCAD in a manufacturing environment.
• Extensive experience utilizing AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Mechanical (latest versions).
• Autodesk Inventor (latest version) experience a plus.
• Experience with creating 3D models and 2D details from 3D models a plus.
• Capable of creating Bill of Material (BOMs) and routers in our ERP system.
• Collaborative in nature - willing to work closely with and share knowledge with other team members.

• Experience analyzing the manufacturing resource plan using sales orders and customer service requirements to initiate actions. Experience directing, controlling, and coordinating product material, ordering, and releasing manufacturing orders.
