You will take over the role of a Development Manager, where you will be responsible for leading a high performing team which focuses on improving developer experience and is involved in major cloud initiatives. Your tasks will also include ensuring project execution remains on track, owning service health for your components, goal planning and people development, fostering motivation, hiring and integrating the best people, as well as driving continuous improvement in the team. You job is to ensure that your development team is reliable, predictable, and efficient, and to remove all obstacles which are getting in the way of success. The ideal candidate is a great engineering and people leader. He/she is an excellent communicator, issue resolver, coach and always has a great understanding of work being done, achievements and impediments at hand.

Responsibilities Include:

People Development:

  • Building a high performing and sustainable team
  • Creating an environment and culture of trust, inclusion, performance, and continuous learning
  • Actively addressing and resolving any team issues
  • Managing talent and performance, including low performers
  • Seeking coaching opportunities and help with personal development
  • Regularly offer feedback to help others in their personal development
  • Setting clear goals with team members and evaluating them fairly

Project, Delivery Management and Ownership:

  • Ensuring the team delivers their commitments on time and with quality.
  • Leading and representing the team and its progress/contributions to stakeholders outside the team
  • Providing expertise and guidance to the team and helping resolve blockers.
  • Ensuring business continuity, including on-call duty coverage
  • Owning the domain your team is responsible for (from development to maintenance)
  • Managing and ensuring proper communication (cascading up and down)
  • Ensuring our definition of done, team or organizational KPI's are being adhered to
  • Ensuring proper collaboration with other teams and stakeholders
  • Ensuring streamlined engineering practices in the team (from team ceremonies to retros and post-mortems) as well as following any other central processes in the organization

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the software development space
  • Minimum 3 years' experience managing a team is a must
  • Track record of leading and managing teams in the enterprise software space is a must
  • A technical software development background is a must
  • Cloud native development experience and experience or knowledge of GCP technologies and products is an asset
  • Experience with building marketing technology stacks/marketing clouds including business acumen in this domain is an asset

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. The targeted combined range for this position is 159,900 - 367,000 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process.
