Position Summary
The Lead Driver serves as the primary delivery driver for Receiving/Distribution. He/she oversees the controlled receipt, accurate documentation, secured storage, and efficient distribution of all supplies and equipment purchased by the medical center. He/she is a steward of medical center resources and ensures financial efficiency for Receiving/Distribution. The Lead Driver also serves in a Clerk role and performs the controlled receipt, accurate documentation, secured storage, and efficient distribution of all goods and equipment purchased by the medical center.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Acts as the primary driver and delivery clerk for all off-site shipments. Responsibly loads, stabilizes, and transports supply shipments to all off-site locations.
- Responsible for maintenance of the delivery vehicle in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and departmental protocol. Keeps vehicle tidy and clean at all times. Maintains and records accurate transportation logs, vehicle fuel consumption logs, and other vehicle data as necessary.
- Capably operates pallet jack, hand truck, and flatbeds to facilitate the delivery of supplies and equipment. Coordinates and schedules deliveries requiring cooperation between multiple departments.
- Actively communicates with various departments to secure and expedite the delivery of high-risk items, rush shipments, and perishable goods requiring refrigeration. Coordinates special shipping and receipt procedures on an as-needed basis.
- Approves or refuses the receipt of all incoming merchandise, supplies, and equipment delivered to the medical center.
- Prepares accurate internal records of all pending and completed receiving transactions including damages, partial shipments, vendor returns, and equipment shipped for repair.
- Utilizes and maintains purchase order files and purges closed purchase orders after 90 days and reviews the open files weekly with the Purchasing department.
- Prepares items for distribution by identifying the requesting department and attaching a copy to the packing slip.
- Central Supply Receiving Clerk performs daily cycle counts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
