Director of Facilities and Operations
Flint Bishop International Airport (FNT)
Bishop International Airport Authority is seeking a Director of Facilities and Operations to oversee all aspects of airport maintenance and operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant functioning of Bishop International Airport (FNT). This includes managing maintenance activities in accordance with CFR Part 139 regulations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director will provide strategic direction and leadership to the facilities and operations teams, ensuring all facilities, utilities, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include directing inspections, repairs, and maintenance of airport buildings, runways, taxiways, and equipment; developing and enforcing policies to comply with federal, state, and local regulations; and managing budgets, resources, and contracted services. The Director also acts as a project manager for airport construction projects, ensuring that work complies with specifications and safety standards. Additionally, the role requires managing emergency response situations, coordinating with stakeholders, and overseeing staff recruitment, training, and performance management.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilities and operations management, with extensive experience in a regulated, complex airport environment. Supervisory experience, knowledge of federal regulations, and a proven ability to manage budgets and contractor relationships are essential. Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education from an accredited college or university in Facility Maintenance, Maintenance Technology, Public or Business Administration, Airport Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field, or combination of equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ of maintenance and/or operation experience at an airport or similar facility such as multi-building education facility, hospital or equivalent environment to include maintenance of buildings, grounds, pavements, vehicles, equipment and construction activities.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge in maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations related to CFR Part 139, OSHA, MIOSHA, and local building codes.
Salary and Benefits
Annual salary range is $84,000 - $124,000. A full range of benefits include Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Short Term and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Optional 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, 20% of annual salary in a 401(a) plan to be fully vested at five years, Retirement Health Savings Plan, relocation expenses, and vehicle.
