Our Benefits Specialist role requires expertise in employee benefits management, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), HSA, and FSA plans. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills. This position also requires the ability to plan and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment, where each day presents new opportunities to support our team’s success.

What It Takes

  • Advanced knowledge of employee benefits policies and programs (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(k), HSA, FSA)
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), with the ability to efficiently create and manage complex documents and presentations
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for data analysis and visualization, using pivot tables, conditional formatting, and functions like VLOOKUP
  • Experience with workforce and human resource management systems such as UKG Ready
  • Experience with onboarding and HR Generalist functions
  • Ability to draft written communications and converse with employees and vendors in a clear, complete, and concise manner
  • Comprehensive attention to detail
  • Capability to coordinate and prioritize concurrent projects
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize various types of data

What YOU Will Be Doing

  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, ensuring all plans comply with company policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws related to benefits (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA).
  • Provide guidance and support, respond to inquiries, investigate issues, and resolve conflicts pertaining to benefits.
  • Maintain and update benefits documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for employees.
  • Ensure that all benefit enrollments, status changes, and terminations are accurately processed with the appropriate carriers and coordinate with the benefit brokers as needed.
  • Assist with the onboarding process and support new hires with their initial benefit enrollment by providing information on options, eligibility, and enrollment.
  • Analyze and process benefit options from the broker when considering alternative benefit packages.
  • Perform internal audits to compare payroll deductions to employee benefit premiums.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to support employee benefits and general HR tasks, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in your role.
  • Prepare and maintain physical and digital records with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Maintain I-9 files and process new hires through the E-Verify system.
  • Complete various employee lifecycle assessments, such as background checks, new-hire check ins, and exit interviews.
  • Support new procedures and processes for improving the employee experience as well as the efficiency of the HR team and company.
  • Oversee time-off requests ensuring that the appropriate policies and procedures have been followed.
