Based at the Mandarin Oriental Boston within the Spa Department, the Part-time Spa Therapist position involves providing personal assistance to guests arriving for their reserved spa treatments. The role aims to meet and exceed guest expectations by providing efficient and courteous service in line with Legendary Quality Experiences. The incumbent is responsible for delivering various services and products, always representing the brand positively.
The Spa Therapist reports to the Director of Spa and Wellness and Spa Managers and receives instructions from the lead Spa Therapist.
Key Responsibilities
Treatment Provision
- Perform treatments on guests while maintaining their comfort at all times.
- Be punctual for appointments and review each appointment thoroughly after treatment.
- Keep work area clean and neat at all times.
- Follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by Legendary trainers or Therapy trainers.
- Ensure a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Spa.
- Replenish necessary consumables, items, and supplies; maintain furniture, fixtures, and equipment in working condition.
- Report breakage, damage, and loss to Spa management; notify concerned colleagues about repair needs.
- Operate therapist equipment following safety protocols.
- Request and collect stock and supplies according to par stock levels for treatment rooms.
- Maintain departmental assets, ensuring all items are cleaned and returned appropriately.
- Keep up-to-date with ongoing spa promotions and activities to assist guests and residents.
- Adhere to health and safety/hygiene control regulations and maintain sanitation and safety standards.
Guest Interaction
- Anticipate guests' needs to provide exceptional experiences in line with MOHG standards.
- Support the spa team in delivering a seamless journey for all guests.
- Cooperate with all hotel and Residences colleagues.
- Attend necessary training courses as required by the Spa Director.
- Interact courteously with guests, answering spa and hotel-related questions.
- Perform treatments to the highest standards.
- Stay current with developments through hotel communication channels.
Qualifications
- Possess a valid MA issued massage therapy license and relevant work experience, preferably in a luxury setting.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Maintain a pleasant, friendly demeanor and good personal hygiene.
- Work safely and in an organized manner.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
