Job Description

Accountant

About the Role:

The Accountant plays a vital role in providing accurate financial information to management through the analysis of accounts and the preparation of financial statements. This position involves maintaining financial records, analyzing data, and implementing accounting procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and various departments.
  • Maintain and balance an automated consolidation system by inputting data, scheduling required jobs, and verifying data accuracy.
  • Analyze financial information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying data accuracy.
  • Record general ledger entries, maintain records and files, and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare payments by accruing expenses, assigning account numbers, requesting disbursements, and reconciling accounts.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Research and interpret financial data to answer accounting and financial questions from internal stakeholders.
  • Provide accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information, converting data to the general ledger system, and preparing financial statements.
  • Protect the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in computerized applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Strong persuasive communication skills to collect essential information and interact professionally with stakeholders.
  • Developed interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments, and external agencies.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage complex, multiple assignments effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and basic mathematical skills for accurate financial analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in an accounting role.
  • CPA certification.
