Tug Boat Operator

Job Responsibilities:
- Use specialized knowledge of local winds, weather, water depths, tides, currents, and hazards avoiding other marine traffic, reefs, outlying shoals, and other hazards to operating boat/barge.
- Load and transport assorted pieces of equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Steer boats/barges into and out of berths.
- Properly and safely fender, moor, and anchor boat/barge.
- Prevent boat/barge under navigational control from engaging in unsafe operations.
- Consult maps, charts, weather reports, and navigation equipment to determine and direct workboat/barge movements.
- Give directions to crew members.
- Maintain any required logs.
- Operate ship-to-shore radios to exchange information needed for ship operations.
- Provide assistance in maritime rescue operations.
- Outfit and maintain proper safety equipment.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- 5-7 years of relevant construction experience.
- Towing Endorsement License for 200 ton.

Compensation is determined based on factors such as experience, knowledge, qualifications, and performance. The compensation range for this position is $33.00-37.00 and is exclusive of any other benefits and/or bonus. Hiring at the maximum of this range would not be typical to allow for future and continued growth.
