The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.
Hourly Wage: $17.20
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Performs complex custodial and floor care work. Work involves performing and/or coordinating the floor service of state buildings and facilities. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Completes assigned custodial duties as needed to meet specifications and standards as per contract located on NAS Corpus Christi Army Depot. Provides training and continuous job coaching duties to employees with disabilities. Leads and/or assists custodial teams to complete tasks listed in Performance Work Statement. Adheres to all policies, rules, regulations, and standards of performance and behavior as determined by the Center, Unit, and NAS-CCAD. Completes documentation as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum: Experience in floor care service and/or custodial work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Experience/trained in working with people with disabilities. Must be able to pass necessary employment screenings including background check conducted by NAS-CCAD personnel. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. If required to drive to perform any duties for the organization, you must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a good driving record if driving is a required job duty.
Preferred: Experience in floor care including but not limited to stripping, waxing, and buffing. Knowledgeable in custodial/janitorial and/or working with people with disabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, equipment, supplies, and safety requirements is preferred. Training provided.
- Must be able to perform physical duties under various work conditions including but not limited to high/low temperature areas, climbing stairs, walking/standing for long periods of time, able to lift at least 25lbs, and in all-weather climates.
- Must be able to use effective communication both verbally and written.
- Ability to provide job coaching with the use of trauma informed care practices.
