Basic Functions

The Executive Director for Residential Living (EDRL) works at the request of the Executive Vice President -- Operations at CarDon and will serve on the Leadership Council of the Chief Executive Officer. This position will be responsible for several key roles for the company. This includes the following major areas:

  • The EDRL will have a lead role in the evaluation and planning of new development and property acquisitions. This position will provide critical input on space programming, design, estimating, and delivery of new construction and major remodel projects for the company.
  • This position will manage the Administrators of five or more Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL) facilities, in addition to corporate staff assigned to the division
  • The EDRL will work to create standardized operating policies, procedures, and reports for all CarDon AL and IL buildings. This will include standardized lease contracts, advanced pricing models, high quality dietary experiences, and meaningful life enrichment programming for each facility.
  • The EDRL will develop and implement successful strategies regarding labor, occupancy, expenses, and quality services, and review and redirect activity if necessary. Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and ensures that communities are meeting their budgets monthly by monitoring monthly expenses and meeting net move ins per month.
  • Leads and develop strategies to ensure policies and practices for achieving customer satisfaction and overall resident experience is achieved to a high degree. EDRL will be the lead collaborator with home office and other resources to ensure the resident and family experience is met.
  • This position will be responsible for recruiting, developing, and holding Executive Directors responsible for meeting key performance indicators, resident experience, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions

The employee must be able to perform all the following essential functions:

  • Responsible for the comprehensive management of five or more IL/AL facilities
  • Provide hands-on leadership for all facets of daily operations. This includes: Life Enrichment, Marketing, Sales, Daily Programming, Dining Services, Cost Control, P&L, Quality, and Safety.
  • Ability to create and maintain a high level of service, quality, and financial performance.
  • Responsible for providing training, education, and strategic coaching for associates for each community.
  • Supervision of facility and corporate team assigned to the division.
  • All duties as assigned.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of competency with budgeting, reporting, and scheduling
  • Computer competency important and necessary

Special Requirements

Must have a valid Indiana driver's license and be in good standing.
