Full Job Description
Medical Training Institute of New York is recruiting for an experienced Adjunct faculty member in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program who exhibits strong communication skills and is willing to train students to become Diagnostic Medical Sonography professionals. Candidates must have experience teaching in a classroom and/or in a synchronous environment and have a minimum of 3 years in Clinical Diagnostic Medical Sonography. We are seeking professionals to join the academic team on a part-time basis. This position involves teaching in hybrid and in-class courses, with classes assigned as enrollment dictates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for students, including scheduled activities and materials.
- Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student needs and established curriculum.
- Monitor attendance and prepare weekly reports for office management.
- Review student success rates and implement plans to reduce student withdrawals, maintaining an 80% success rate.
- Maintain student grades and prepare final records as per established policies.
- Evaluate student performance and make provisions to meet learning needs.
- Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to clinics.
- Monitor student academic progress and coordinate with support staff as needed.
- Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations.
- Assist and advise students with the curriculum.
- Demonstrate and assist with lab procedures while ensuring safety.
- Coordinate externships for diagnostic medical sonography students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Three years of practical experience in Sonography or a related field.
- Active registration/credential from a recognized sonography-credentialing agency (RDMS).
- Appropriate credentials for one or more of the offered concentrations (AB, OB/GYN).
- Current license or credential required by laws to work in the field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and general computer skills.
