Founded in 1965, CSUB is a growing comprehensive regional university located in the southern San Joaquin Valley, offering 45 undergraduate and 21 master’s degree programs, plus a doctoral program in educational leadership. The College of Arts and Humanities (A&H) offers a range of programs, nurturing creativity and critical thinking with approximately 1,000 students enrolled. The College is committed to community engagement and has active collaborations with local organizations.
Position Summary
The Dean provides leadership to the College’s departments, ensuring alignment with CSUB’s strategic plan. Responsibilities include academic leadership, faculty and staff management, budget oversight, and strategic planning.
Key Opportunities and Challenges
- Setting a New Vision for Arts & Humanities: The Dean will develop a vision focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration, student success, and securing resources for the College.
- Fostering Student Success: The Dean will enhance graduation and retention initiatives, promoting diversity and inclusion within academic excellence.
- Advancing Faculty and Staff Success: The role involves recruiting and retaining quality faculty and staff, supporting professional development.
- Strengthening Collaboration & Communication: The Dean will promote inclusion and effective communication within the College and with the community.
- Fundraising and Relationship Building: Engaging in fundraising and external relations to support college programs and visibility.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in an A&H discipline.
- Record of teaching and service suitable for professorship.
- Experience in leadership roles.
- Effective collaboration with diverse groups.
- Budget and fiscal management experience.
- Understanding of university governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in strategic planning and faculty support.
- Success in fundraising and relationship building.

Compensation: Full-time position with a salary range of $10,106 - $32,441 monthly, commensurate with experience. CSUB offers comprehensive benefits.
