Position Title: PEOPLE OPERATIONS BUSINESS PARTNER

Location: MIDLAND, TX

FLSA Class: EXEMPT

Responsible to: VICE PRESIDENT, PEOPLE OPERATIONS

Position Summary: The People Operations Business Partner is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships with leadership and team members in assigned business units, and across all People Operations functions to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. You'll assist across the transportation business unit of the company, supporting the business's goals through its people's success.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to business leaders, understanding their objectives and challenges and providing HR guidance and support.
  • Talent Management: Collaborate with business leaders to identify talent needs, develop workforce plans, and implement strategies for attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Performance Management: Advise and support managers in effectively managing employee performance, including goal setting, performance evaluations, feedback, coaching, and development plans.
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance and expertise on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, grievances, and investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and company policies.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Partner with business leaders and the HR team to develop and implement competitive compensation and benefits programs that align with business objectives and industry standards.
  • Organizational Development: Collaborate with business leaders to assess organizational needs, design and implement organizational development initiatives, and drive change management efforts.
  • HR Policy and Compliance: Stay up-to-date on employment laws and regulations, ensure HR policies and practices are in compliance, and provide guidance to managers and employees on HR-related policies and procedures.
  • Employee Engagement and Culture: Foster a positive work environment and a culture of engagement, diversity, and inclusion through initiatives such as employee engagement surveys, recognition programs, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • HR Analytics and Reporting: Utilize HR data and analytics to generate insights, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve HR programs and processes.

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with five or more years of progressive experience, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Strategic mindset: Ability to think strategically, understand business goals, and align HR strategies and initiatives accordingly.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and make sound decisions based on data and HR best practices.
  • Change management: Experience in leading and managing change initiatives, with the ability to navigate through organizational transformations and drive cultural change.
  • Business acumen: Solid understanding of business operations, financial concepts, and industry trends to effectively partner with business leaders and provide HR support in a business context.
  • Ethical and compliance orientation: High ethical standards and a thorough understanding of HR laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Experience in working at a start-up is highly preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit interested in finding the best way to complete a process efficiently.
  • Experience with UKG is preferable.
