Starting Part-Time Hourly Rate: $20.17

Examples Of Work To Be Performed

  • Assist with the overall development, planning and executing of events.
  • Assist with vendors, entertainers, sponsors, volunteers and other City departments to further event objectives.
  • Research, identify and recruit potential performing artists.
  • Create and update flyers, posters, web content, social media content, and videos for the cultural arts department.
  • Capture photos and videos for event marketing.
  • Assist with general office duties such as filing, emails, supply inventory management and distribution, answering phone calls, and answering customer questions; performs other related work as assigned.

Required Education, Training And Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work morning, evening, and weekend hours (primary hours are Monday-Friday 10 AM-4 PM but evenings, holidays and/or weekends will be required periodically based on events)
  • Valid Texas Drivers’ License

Desired Training And Experience

  • Some graphic design/photography experience preferred
  • Education and/or experience in special events, hospitality/tourism or customer service preferred
  • Experience using variety of software including Adobe Suite, Canva, and social media platforms preferred

Essential Physical Functions

The physical activity of this position

  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree
  • and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

The Physical Requirements Of This Position

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.

  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
