The Data Scientist will leverage expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization to help transform complex data into clear, actionable insights. Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. If local, we prefer candidates willing to work a hybrid in-office schedule (3 days per week). We are open to candidates working remotely but willing to visit HQs quarterly.

In The Role, You Would Be Responsible For
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies in large datasets. Use statistical techniques and machine learning models to extract meaningful insights and inform visualization design.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards, charts, and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or other options. Focus on creating clear, intuitive, and impactful visual representations of data to support decision-making.
- Work closely with business units and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure visual outputs align with business needs.
- Prepare and clean raw data by identifying and addressing quality issues, handling missing data, and transforming datasets into suitable formats for analysis and visualization.
- Build and optimize data models to support visualization needs, and apply statistical methods to analyze data. Develop algorithms and predictive models where necessary to uncover deeper insights.
- Monitor the performance of dashboards and visualizations, ensuring responsiveness, accuracy, and scalability. Make necessary updates and improvements to optimize efficiency.
- Present findings and data-driven insights to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, using effective storytelling techniques. Clearly explain complex analyses and visualizations to ensure actionable understanding.
- BS in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related field
- 3-5 years of professional experience working on data science projects, including working with large datasets and performing data analysis to drive business insights. Designing and deploying machine learning models. Developing data pipelines and cleaning/transforming data.
- Ability to write clean, efficient code in languages such as Python, R or SQL
- Proficiency with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Dplyr for data wrangling
- Hands-on experience with libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, and XGBoost
- Experience developing, tuning, and deploying machine learning models.
- Competence in creating impactful visualizations and dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or custom visualizations with libraries like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or D3.js.
- Ability to approach problems methodically, form hypotheses, and apply data-driven methods to solve business challenges.
- Experience using statistical methods and algorithms to draw meaningful conclusions from data.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to approach complex business challenges and identify opportunities where data science can add value.
- Competence in breaking down big problems into manageable data questions.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and software developers.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate data solutions clearly to different audiences.
