Digital Skills Education & Workforce Development Instructor (GRANT FUNDED POSITION)

The primary goals of our Digital Skills Education & Workforce Readiness program are to provide BGCM youth with access to internet and technology, develop digital literacy skills, and promote workforce readiness to increase career options for young people.
This position will teach various computer concepts to BGCM High School participants under the parameters of Digital Skills Education and Workforce Development programming. This position will require travel to 10 high school sites on a weekly basis.
Requirements:Designing and teaching IT training for youth ages 16-22 under the guidelines of the DSEW programming, which include:
Foundational knowledge about the Internet and Related Technology.
Professional Information and Data Literacy Software Skills.
Communication and Collaboration Technology.
Digital Content Creation Software Skills.
Generative AI and Ethical AI Skills.
Cyber Security Best Practices and Government Site Accessibility Skills.
Problem Solving and Critical Thinking in Digital Resource Management.
Assuring that the computer equipment is properly maintained and used by the students.
Assessing student work and compiling data on the results and providing feedback.
Being a liaison with other organizations and employers to provide mentorship and coaching opportunities.
Researching seminars and other educational opportunities to be presented to students.
Training and mentoring students at the 10 high school sites on a rotating basis each week.
Performing other assigned duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate/license plus 5 years of extensive experience and skills about PC's/laptops including Windows operating systems, word processing, data programs, desk top publishing, spreadsheets, smart boards, and other programs.
DEGREE EQUIVALENCY FORMULA:
Associate's degree =2 years plus required years of experience.
Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree = 6 years plus required years of experience.
(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Planning, organization, leadership and excellent time management skills are required.
Knowledge about computer hardware including operation of digital printers, scanners and other peripheral equipment is required.
Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position.
Possess a valid driver's license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation.
Outstanding communication skills and comfortable speaking to groups.
Knowledge of teaching principles.
Ability to work with teenagers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires light physical effort. It may include frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Some bending, stooping and/or lifting will be required. Considerable walking may be involved.
