The Global Transportation Sourcing Leader is responsible for securing cost-effective carrier capacity that meets the defined network needs of the business across regions, business segments, and modes. The Director, Global Transportation will manage an internal team of 3 managers responsible for all transportation modes, Freight Audit & Pay (FAP) and Freight Claims.

The Global Transportation Sourcing Leader is responsible for securing cost-effective carrier capacity that meets the defined network needs of the business across regions, business segments, and modes. The Director, Global Transportation will manage an internal team of 3 managers responsible for all transportation modes, Freight Audit & Pay (FAP) and Freight Claims.
You’ll Make An Impact
- Develops and executes comprehensive transportation strategies that align with the company's business objectives. This involves optimizing supply chain efficiency, reducing lead times, and collaborating with teams across the organization.?
- Creates, develops and maintains strategic supplier relationships to ensure available transportation capacity and required service levels to meet the company’s needs at the most competitive cost. Develops a portfolio of market competitive carrier capacity across regions, business segments, and modes.?
- Manages relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers. ?
- Leads best-in-class sourcing events across modes utilizing eSourcing platforms to optimize awards.?
- Leads the team in the development of RFPs and RFQs across modes for existing and new potential carriers; manages bids and negotiates contracts to secure optimal cost capacity and tender acceptance including spot market rates.?
- Develops global and regional routing guides. Tracks and reports on compliance to contracted rates, routing guides, and carrier selection by Plants, DCs and Contract Manufacturers.?
- Leads global carrier performance management; ensures ongoing carrier compliance with operating standards and contractual service level agreements (SLAs). Addresses global transportation escalations across the organization. ?
- Utilizes data analytics to identify areas for improvement and drives informed decision-making.?
- Accountable for logistics spend, reporting and productivity, working to optimize costs while maintaining high-quality service levels. This includes the effective management of Freight Audit Providers (FAP’s) - US Bank & TRAX.?
- Accountable for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for transportation costs.?
- Builds and develops a high-performing logistics team, providing coaching and mentorship to support professional growth and development.
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in applicable areas such as logistics procurement, supply chain, and transportation management?
- Deep knowledge of global freight markets and familiarity with freight forwarders and carriers?
- Experience executing sourcing events through eSourcing platforms.?
- Experience managing relationships and performance with external vendors?
- Stay current with global freight market trends and familiarity with industry capabilities ?
- Demonstrate contract negotiation skills?
- Strong functional expertise in transportation with demonstrated track record of successful project deployments with quantifiable results.?
- Global mindset and ability to work across geographies and cultures?
- Strong communications and inter-personal skills; builds effective relationships across organizations
