Position Goal:
To oversee the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy Department in the most efficient manner as possible, ensuring it meets the needs of the patients and physicians.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing PT workflow and processes to ensure billing and documentation requirements are met daily, including PT orders, procedure documentation, and signed forms.
- Provides oversight for development, direction, and coordination of all Physical Therapy staff.
- Responsible for updating PT policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains departmental budgets, reporting on variances monthly and overseeing the budget.
- Maintains all PT regulatory guidelines and standards.
- Manages all aspects of PT inventory, including supply ordering, receiving, stocking, paying supplier invoices, and ensuring staff are trained to meet patient needs.
- Assists staff and physicians in solving problems regarding braces and fittings that meet patient needs.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, physicians, staff, and corporate staff.
- Ensures PT staff provide direct patient care activities as assigned.
- Ensures quality patient care is provided by all therapists.
- Meets physicians' needs regarding rehabilitative services.
- Ensures rehab department is Medicare compliant and billing is appropriate.
- Plans and administers medically prescribed PT treatments to restore function, prevent disability, and relieve pain.
- Consults with physicians and departments about PT factors affecting patient health status.
- Documents treatments and patient information for medical records and bills patients accordingly.
- Educates patients and families on care and use of therapies and exercises.
- Conducts staff meetings at least quarterly.
- Serves as an information and education resource for patients, families, and therapy staff.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains affiliations.
- Performs related work as required and recommends solutions to patient care problems.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
Position Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Physical Therapist or Assistant required, with 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy or Assistant program.
Special Qualification: Current state License in PT or PTA, BLS certification, valid driver's license, satisfactory MVR, good judgement, and excellent communication skills required.
