Using a variety of internal and external sources, the Category Manager oversees trade development initiatives. The Category Manager will research trends, interpret market data, and assess market opportunities. This role is responsible for the overall analytical support of sales, replenishment, efficiency and compliance activities within assigned account(s).

Using a variety of internal and external sources, the Category Manager oversees trade development initiatives. The Category Manager will research trends, interpret market data, and assess market opportunities. This role is responsible for the overall analytical support of sales, replenishment, efficiency and compliance activities within assigned account(s).
Duties And Responsibilities
- Make recommendations regarding the assigned retailers’ business in support of the category plan
- Assess economic and market conditions, estimate sales potential, and identify retailer/brand opportunities
- Develop strategic data modeling tools and databases, develop and recommend product assortments, placements, layouts, pricing and promotional activity
- Develop short and long term retailer and supplier business plans as directed by the Regional Category Manager
- Develop Plan-o-grams and layouts, and make recommendations to drive consistency and profit across the retailer’s enterprise
- Analyze trends to develop account specific supplier volume forecasts.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor degree plus 3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in market research, syndicated data analysis, Spectra, Household panel data or Space Planning tools
- 5 or more years’ experience
- Advanced degree such as an MBA
- Category Management Association Certification considered a plus
- Prior experience in the liquor, food, or grocery wholesale/distribution business highly valued
- Sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
- Occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 45lbs
