Responsibilities

  • Conceptual development of initial project scope and budget.
  • Assist in preparation of final budgets and spending forecasting.
  • Development of project scope of work, and necessary internal and external resources to implement such.
  • Responsible for contract generation and negotiations.
  • Procure and provide any necessary outsourced Engineering services, while providing technical oversight and cost control of such.
  • Responsible for the specification and procurement of equipment and materials.
  • Ensure purchasing (procurement) guidelines are followed.
  • Responsible for procuring and managing necessary site construction installation needs of the project, including but not limited to the following: civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and automation systems.
  • Overall project implementation and supervision/
  • Project Management, including cost control.
  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure operational plan is executed on time and on cost.
  • Perform project status reporting as well as administrative functions to ensure that correct billing and accounting practices are followed.
  • Ensure excellent product quality and customer service.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer and resource relations.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors and/or design professionals, to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints or construction problems.
  • Ensure contractors and project staff adhere to safety standards applicable for the construction site.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering)


Experience:

  • At least ten (10) years of experience managing major capital projects
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in the cement industry
  • Demonstrated performance in managing capital projects having values in excess of 25 million dollars


Proficiencies:

  • Microsoft Office Products. AutoCad. General computer proficiency


Communications:

  • Good written and verbal communication (English language) skills with both peers and contractors


General Knowledge:

  • Engineering management, construction management, construction execution and cement plant operations


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, climb and generally access all areas of site construction
  • Use of safety equipment to access construction activities is required


Travel:

  • Employee will be required to travel and work at Buzzi Unicem USA sites
  • Travel away from the home office is expected to range at least 50% of the time
  • Longer durations may be required during actual site commissioning periods
  • Present department policy is to allow the candidate to return home on weekends or as needed as long as job responsibilities are met
  • Manager is to make arrangements to be on site, or to have a designate support, such when construction work is ongoing
  • Variation to such site presence to be agreed upon in advance with management on a case-by-case basis


Other:

  • Capable to multi-task and support multiple projects concurrently
  • MSHA Safety certification is preferred but not required and training will be provided
  • A knowledge of cement plant operations and equipment types utilized in such is preferred
  • Candidate is to be motivated, well organized, and detail oriented
  • Candidate must be willing and able to work independently to develop, coordinate, and perform project activities with the help and interaction of other corporate engineers and managers, site and plant representatives, engineering firms, testing firms, contractors, and equipment suppliers
  • It is preferred that the candidate be willing to relocated to the Bethlehem PA Corporate office.
