Program Overview
The Future Leaders Fellowship provides hands-on work experiences to college students who identify as being underrepresented, have faced and overcome adversity, or have demonstrated a commitment to diversity in their community. The fellowship is intended to provide a broad, yet unique work experience and build confidence in practical skills to benefit the student’s long-term career path and community involvement.
The Future Leaders Fellowship is an immersive, 10-week program in which students are provided housing, transportation to and from the Downtown Columbus AOS office, and an interactive work experience that includes hands-on mentorship and presentations from Governmental and Private sector leaders such as:
- Judge James Green of Franklin County Municipal Court
- Columbus City Schools
- Worthington City Schools
- Franklin County Treasurer, Auditor, and Board of Commissioners
- John Parms CPA firm
- Jones Day law firm
- The Ohio Society of CPAs
The Future Leaders program allows participants to experience a variety of career paths, including Auditing, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology. While our typical financial audit internship is for experienced accounting students, this program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, of any major, who are attending Ohio and bordering state colleges and universities.
How long does the internship last?
- May 12 – July 18 (10 weeks)
- Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Students have the option to return home on weekends
Benefits
- $20 per hour pay rate
- Housing provided (Ohio State University dorms)
- Free Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus pass
- Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS)

Qualifications
Requirements and Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- 18 years of age or older
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university
- Available to work 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Clean pre-employment background check
- Communication skills necessary to succeed in a collaborative team atmosphere
- Interest in learning a variety of business fields
