Job Summary

The Electrical Designer supports Electrical Engineer(s) to ensure timely completion of tasks and project deadlines. Following direction from Engineering leadership, the Electrical Designer integrates electrical systems with wire harness routing and documentation. They collaborate with (mechanical) Design Engineers and other functions to deliver work that meets customer, OEM, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Electrical Designer assists with practical application and problem resolution through interaction with the operations team and provides feedback to the Electrical Engineer.

Note: The primary difference between job levels is tied to skill level, complexity of the problem solving, and year of experience. Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

  • Create wire harness routing designs and support documentation in compliance with safety standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Develop 3D models of components and assemblies using CATIA.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, and engineering data for production, testing, and qualification.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturing and assembly, incorporating feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Project Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Operations functions to ensure timely project deliverables.
  • Apply industry standards to product design to meet specifications, regulations, schedules, and budgets.
  • Create and review 2D drawings of parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies in CATIA.
  • Research and verify design criteria, customer needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Liaison Engineering during production to resolve engineering issues.
  • Support production personnel with manufacturing electrical designs.
  • Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all Adient Aerospace policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested.

Education

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical /mechanical engineering preferred

Experience: Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

  • A minimum of 5 years of direct or related experience in aerospace electrical design

Skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of related software including CATIA, AUTOCAD, and PLM
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience with design and certification of electrical components installed in aircraft interiors

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION

  • Direction with necessary guidance is provided in terms of tasks and objectives and measured based upon how well objectives have been met. Receives detailed instructions as needed.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

  • None for Level I or II. Senior level may oversee the work of others
  • Assist in the training and coaching of project team members as assigned
  • Assist in driving the achievement of key initiatives of the project

PROBLEM SOLVING

  • Develop and provide solutions to complex problems based on established precedents and are consistent with organization objectives.

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Compensation / Benefits

Adient Aerospace offers competitive wages and benefits to recognize employees for their work. The base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.

Salary Range Transparency: $69,000 - $89,120 annually
