Position Description:
The Sales/Sampling Technician supports TAIT & Associates' Fuel Polishing division by dividing their time between Northern and Southern California. The role focuses on sales outreach and scheduling self-conducted visual fuel sampling appointments. This entry-level position provides hands-on training and a career path in fuel quality and environmental safety.
Traveling Requirements: This position requires monthly travel to our Northern California office for a minimum of one week. All travel expenses, including per diem, transportation, and hotel accommodations, will be covered by the company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Attend in-person and online training sessions to obtain certifications.
- Train on-site with experienced Fuel Polishing professionals and Class A Drivers.
- Assist as a technician helper on Fuel Polishing jobs requiring two people as needed, including work on aboveground tanks, underground tanks requiring confined space entry, or day/generator tanks.
- Gain access to and work with various fuel storage systems, including Underground Storage Tanks, Aboveground Storage Tanks, and Generator Belly/Day Tanks.
- Learn safety protocols to prevent workplace hazards, including fall risks.
- Conduct visual fuel sampling and analyze contaminants such as sediment, water, algae, sludge, rust, and clarity loss.
- Complete detailed visual sampling reports for the office team.
- Understand fuel types and their qualities (Amber Diesel, Red Dye Diesel, Unleaded Gas, Aviation Fuel).
- Learn the fuel filtration process to effectively communicate and sell polishing services to customers.
- Perform daily administrative tasks, including timecard and work order submissions.
- Travel to client sites using a company vehicle, covering distances up to 200+ miles per day as needed.
- Ensure all tasks are performed safely in compliance with company and client safety guidelines.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid/Current Driver’s License
Preferred Education and Skills Experience:
- Knowledge of petroleum industry.
- Knowledge of fuel tanks.
Physical/Additional Requirements:
- Complete a background check, MVR, and drug test/physical
- Ability to speak clearly & professionally to communicate with clients.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle to client’s sites, occasionally up to 200+ miles per day as needed.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range for position: $20/hr - $24/hr
