Service Desk Specialist I

Job Summary
We are currently hiring a Service Desk Specialist I for our MIS Division. The primary purpose of this junior-level opportunity is to provide technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. The role involves responding to calls and service desk tickets, running diagnostic programs, isolating problems, and determining and implementing solutions. The candidate will need to investigate and resolve software and hardware issues while providing a superior level of customer service.
Essential Duties
Your Day-to-Day responsibilities include:
- Answering, evaluating, and prioritizing incoming telephone calls, voice mail, Service Desk ticket requests, and in-person requests from users experiencing issues with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.
- Preparing shipping labels and shipping equipment to branches and remote locations as needed.
- Receiving equipment and distributing it to assigned Service Desk Technicians.
- Assisting Service Desk Technicians with troubleshooting, repairing, and prepping new equipment.
- Processing Service Desk invoices and checks for accurate billing charges based on contractual agreements and work requested.
- Performing miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Competencies
We value ethical conduct, thoroughness, detail-orientation, excellent written and oral communication skills, organization, and great time management. The incumbent should have 1 year of experience and be working towards a bachelor’s degree in IT. Knowledge in IT Ticket tracking systems and MS Office products is necessary. Time management and workload prioritization are very important in this role, along with excellent customer service skills, strong documentation skills, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
