Position Summary
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist II reports to the Corporate Regulatory Affairs Manager and is based out of our Carneys Point, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for the evaluation, interpretation and application of all relevant regulations and other established standards to the completion and dissemination of technical product and facility documents. These documents include, but are not limited to: product specifications, facility assessments, relevant customer forms, portals, certificates, product labels and the language contained therein.
Primary Responsibilities Include

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting.
FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.
OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Position Summary
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist II reports to the Corporate Regulatory Affairs Manager and is based out of our Carneys Point, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for the evaluation, interpretation and application of all relevant regulations and other established standards to the completion and dissemination of technical product and facility documents. These documents include, but are not limited to: product specifications, facility assessments, relevant customer forms, portals, certificates, product labels and the language contained therein.
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Interfacing with internal functional areas, customers, vendors and regulatory consultants to prepare and disseminate accurate, technical regulatory direction and documentation.
- Collaborating with QA regarding food safety and quality systems.
- Engaging with R&D on all technical product aspects: formulations, product launch support, certifications, sensory evaluation, chemical attributes and nutritional profiles.
- Cooperating with Sales regarding customer requirements, finished product specification requests and other product related inquiries.
- Collaborating with Sourcing regarding package configurations, material compliance and sustainability, and ingredient commercial availability.
- Maintaining supplier and customer relationships in a manner that supports their business and helps minimizes risk to all concerned.
- Populating and maintaining customer portals, focusing on data accuracy, consistency and timeliness.
- Supporting the company’s data management process by distributing materials in a controlled manner, using good documentation practices to ensure traceability and historical record.
- Acquiring thorough knowledge of food labeling regulations and requirements and applying that knowledge to: support the development, review and approval of product labeling and associated marketing content, certification requirements and risk mitigation considerations.
- Supporting the establishment of and adherence to corporate policies relevant to regulatory compliance.
- Managing time requirements on assignments, communicating conflicts to management.
- Monitoring industry relevant publications, to identify and communicate potential regulatory changes or trends.
- Evaluating documentation required to obtain organic certification and maintain compliance in accordance with the National Organic Program.
- Managing the maintenance of program documentation and submissions to the organic certification body to secure approval / certification.
- Evaluating content of the required documents for suitability: appropriate organic scheme, documentation type(s), relevance to the material and facility.
- Builds oversight of manufacturing facility organic programs and supports audits and inspections
- Works with the CB Project Manager and Senior Leadership to escalate and address issues as appropriate.
- Developing thorough knowledge on other identity preserved food platforms in order to oversee and maintain compliance: Kosher, Fair Trade, and Non-GMO
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Science related field, or Associate Degree with equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years Customer Service / General Office experience.
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Analytical skills required; ability to collaborate and solve problems
- Strong, direct communication and customer service skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Science related field
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in food industry or related field
- Regulatory Department or Food Industry experience
- Planning/organizing – the individual prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.

- Strong PC / internet skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions. Ability to speak effectively on relevant subject matter in support of job functions.
