POSITION SUMMARY: Directs the organization and management of the office of the Annual Diocesan Appeal and Stewardship for the Diocese. Responsible for directing and coordinating the annual campaign and promoting Stewardship, providing leadership, support, and materials to parishes, assisting them in educating and motivating parishioners toward stewardship. Responsible for the Diocesan Information Management System used by Chancery Offices and Parishes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Stewardship Vision, Strategy and Leadership:

  • Provide leadership to educate all diocesan, parish, and ministry regarding Christian Stewardship principles as outlined in the USCCB pastoral letter, “Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response”.
  • Recruit, orient, and train the diocesan Stewardship Advisory sub-committee for long-term planning and strategy.
  • Collaborate with other diocesan ministry directors to integrate Stewardship programming into ministry education opportunities.
  • Cultivate the practice of Christian Stewardship among the Diocese of San Jose.

Finances and Operations:

Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA)
  • Direct responsibility for the annual ADA campaign, aiming for $7 million.
  • Recruit, orient, and train the Annual Diocesan Appeal Advisory sub-committee.
  • Design impactful marketing campaigns, including themes and incentives, to encourage participation in the ADA.
  • Educate and motivate pastors and parish leaders on campaign techniques for maximum results.
  • Provide marketing and public relations leadership for the ADA.

Collaboration and Communication:

Parish Capital Campaigns
  • Guide parishes on the feasibility of Capital Campaigns and funding major projects.
  • Provide a reference list and interviewing guide for consulting firms.
  • Review contracts from consulting firms prior to submission for Bishop's approval.
  • Assist in building strong relationships with Diocesan Donor Circles.
  • Maintain membership lists, process incoming payments, and organize events for members.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Coordinate communications among constituents and offices professionally and timely.
  • Maintain major donor database software with current information and donor notes.
  • Organize and plan events for donors and training events for clergy and parish teams.
  • Maintain financial record-keeping systems, overseeing expenditures and budget monitoring.
  • Provide support in maintaining the Director for Stewardship and Development’s calendar.
  • Demonstrated communications, public relations, project-management, and organizational skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and five years of management experience.
  • Experience with database systems and projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strategic thinking and knowledge of accounting/budgeting.

Other Requirements:

  • Practicing Catholic preferred with knowledge of the Catholic Church structure.
  • Able to work collaboratively with staff and provide good customer service.

Salary Range: $68,640 – $91,640 per year.
