Job Summary:

The payroll manager will be responsible for overseeing and directing payroll procedures, benefit administration, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation, analysis, maintenance, and processing of the payroll function.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing required accounting and financial policies pertaining to the payroll function.
  • Establish working procedures and processes for the payroll unit.
  • Maintain in-depth technical and professional knowledge of the payroll function.
  • Ensure the schedule for transmitting direct deposit payments for wages to the bank; the management of payroll garnishments, 401k loan repayments, are accurate and timely.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor the required financial reports.
  • Monitor and adjust employee annual wage statements for overpayments, third party sick pay, and workers’ compensation payments.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and review payroll activities; compose correspondence to employees regarding payroll activities and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance of legislative changes as necessary; and design and implement the use of payroll-related forms.
  • Research and respond to questions regarding payroll policies and procedures; prepare responses to court or arbitration-ordered payroll data.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual payroll reports and statements to appropriate governmental agencies as required.
  • Coordinate the processing of W-2 statements; annually balance W-2 figures with payroll partner.
  • Liaise with auditors during annual audit procedures including required 5500 filings.
  • Partner with HR to ensure all benefit plans are administered correctly including proper deductions.
  • Ensure all payroll account balances are correct, resolve any payroll errors, and all merits, promotions, etc., are entered correctly and on time.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations team to ensure that Commissions are properly calculated and processed.

Required Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Payroll manager, preferably in a company with 200+ employees.
  • Proven experience in managing payroll in most States.
  • Proven analytical and mathematic skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and State Tax requirements regarding payroll deductions.
  • Proven experience in partnership with Finance regarding reporting and department cost allocation requirements.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and is outcomes oriented.

Preferred Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Former experience in private equity growth companies.
  • Former experience with Paylocity.
  • Experience working with complex commission plan payments.
