General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Executive Director Electric Operations provides overall planning, direction, regulatory compliance, and high level oversight to assure completion of field construction, maintenance, service, and emergency work to Company Electric Transmission and Distribution facilities in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervision of Electric Field leaders who oversee OM&C Bargaining employees including education and adherence to Corporate Safety Manual, Electric Methods and Procedures Manual, Electric Distribution Manual, MIOSHA standards, OSHA standards, DOT standards, Business Continuity Plans, Code of Conduct and all Employee Policy and Process manuals. Responsible for grievance procedures, on investigations (safety and disciplinary) and associated disciplinary recourse.
- Responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of employees assigned to the operation, maintenance, and construction of Electric distribution systems, customer Electric services, buildings and grounds or utility support areas.
- Responsible to oversee, at a very high level, Monthly Operating Reviews, Rally Rooms, Problem Solving Events, Safety Health and Guidance Teams, Safety Culture Teams, Fix It Now Teams, Safety Grass Roots Teams, and Financial Programs. Very high level of understanding of company and departmental metrics/financials, creation/updating of visual management, problem solving, and Lean methods tool education and utilization.
- Participate in on-call rotation for zone or activated for storm restoration, respond to emergent events 24/7, manage the company's High Load Response process including adhering to MISO Conservative Operations Guidelines, etc.
- Contribute to the hiring and developing of Electric Field Leaders.
- Oversee proposed changes and enhancements to systems and facilities operation.
- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Presentation Skills: Ability to speak to a crowd and with the public.
- Ability to transfer experience and knowledge.
- Budget planning.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of electric distribution operations and construction.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the capacity to lead change efforts in a competitive business environment.
- Knowledge and application of work methods, work processes, and related technology in the field of Electric Transmission, Distribution, and Meter or Generation Operations.
- Problem solving.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with 12+ years of experience leading electrical operations.
- [OR] Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field with 14+ years of experience leading electrical operations.
- [OR] High School diploma with 16+ years of experience leading electrical operations.
