Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Organize and implement, in coordination with key stakeholders, purchasing strategies for sourcing programs consistent with company guidelines.
- Coordination of major projects and new product development through management of vendors and commodities, which entails negotiating with suppliers for pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Coordinate supplier selection, qualification, and evaluation with other departments.
- Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, and inventory control and management.
- Protect company interests in all transactions via astute negotiation and value analysis techniques for cost reductions in the manufacture, distribution or sales of product.
- Contribute to the development of purchase specifications by providing pertinent technical information through market knowledge and experience.
- Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement through Value engineering leadership on components and process improvements in product and packaging.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of assigned areas of responsibility and perform the required purchasing and market research for assigned commodities.
- Study market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements.

Requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of related experience. Requires 5 years of experience in Purchasing; Strategic Procurement; Reading and reviewing engineering drawings; Negotiating Skills; MS Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Requires 1 year of experience in Quality Systems awareness; Manage Multiple activities. 10% Domestic travel required.

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex business, government and technical documents in English. Must have the capability to effectively respond to the most sensitive inquiries and/or complaints made by others. Must be able to write speeches and articles using original and/or innovative styles or techniques. It is imperative to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial and/or complex topics to top management, and/or public groups.
Mathematical Skills
Must have an advanced understanding of mathematical concepts including but not limited to probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and/or calculus.

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions such as mathematical and/or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
