Temporary HR Assistant

We are seeking a Temporary Human Resources Assistant to support the HR Manager in our studio’s fast-paced, creative environment. This role will focus on a mix of organizational tasks, new hire coordination, and general culture-building initiatives while assisting with day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and creative, with a strong understanding of confidentiality and labor laws. Must be able to work on-site in Austin, TX on a daily basis.
Job Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding Support:
Coordinate interviews with applicants, managing scheduling and communication to ensure a seamless experience.
Aid in the new hire process, including preparing onboarding materials, and ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
Support the HR Manager in maintaining and improving recruitment processes.
Organizational & Culture Support:
Assist in planning and executing culture-building initiatives, including employee events and activities.
Maintain employee records and ensure HR systems are up-to-date and accurate.
Streamline organizational processes and contribute to the overall efficiency of the HR department.
General HR Support:
Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Assist in updating and enforcing HR policies, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws.
Provide administrative support, including document preparation and maintaining HR files.
Compliance & Best Practices:
Ensure adherence to labor laws, with a focus on multi-state regulations.
Stay informed about HR trends and best practices, offering suggestions to improve processes.
Requirements
At least 1 year of professional experience in Human Resources or a similar field.
Strong understanding of labor laws; multi-state knowledge is a plus.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
Proactive and creative mindset, with the ability to contribute ideas and solve problems.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Able to provide professional references.
Must be able to work on-site in Austin, TX on a daily basis.
Pluses
Experience in the video game industry or another creative/technical environment.
Experience with benefits administration.
Payroll experience.
Experience with multi-state labor laws.
Familiarity with culture-building initiatives or employee engagement activities.
