What You’ll Do as an on-site Engineer at our Davenport, IA office:

Manufacturing

• Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, tooling, and methods for Grace products with an eye towards optimization and continuous improvement.
• Design, develop, and build production and quality test fixtures.
• Work with Engineering and Production teams to implement and streamline Bill of Material (BOM) changes, work orders, and process documentation.
• Provide manufacturing support for Production department to enable and improve production uptime metrics.
  
  

Quality

• Design and implement internal qualification, verification systems, and processes to ensure products meet required quality and reliability metrics (ISO 9001, SIL, UL, IECEX, ATEX, etc.).
• Conduct internal audits and lead external audits for quality management (ISO 9001), functional safety (SIL), hazardous location (IECEX/ATEX), and other auditable quality systems.
• Work with Supply Management to track and improve quality of purchased components
• Lead the development, documentation, and implementation of continuous improvement projects across all departments.
  
  

What You’ll Need

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, quality, or industrial engineering.
• 1 – 5 years of experience, preferably in manufacturing and/or quality engineering roles.
  
  

Technical Skills And Abilities

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Strong understanding of the development and implementation of quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
• Strong understanding of the product manufacturing process.
• Basic understanding of the use of mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Basic understanding of UL and CE product certifications and related processes.
• Basic understanding of electrical power systems.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, professional journals, blueprints, engineering change notices and procedure manuals.
• Ability to prepare reports, documentation, educational videos, and other technical content.
• Ability to communicate effectively (both in verbal and written form) with vendors, customers, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
