Director of Marketing

Primary Function
The Connecticut Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) seeks a full-time Director of Marketing to lead the Shubert Theatre’s overall marketing strategy. The Director collaborates with leadership to serve as the central storyteller for the organization.
Additional Information: This is a full-time, salaried position. The selected candidate will be eligible for CAPA's full benefits package, including health, dental, vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, paid time off, and access to complimentary tickets to shows.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes an annual marketing and advertising campaign that captures the Shubert Theatre's identity and supports various programming and fundraising efforts.
- Creates comprehensive communication plans, leads media relations, builds the Shubert brand, and positions the theatre's role in the community.
- Manages all department marketing initiatives for tickets and special projects, including strategy, budget, and performance tracking.
- Coordinates subscription campaigns to maximize ticket sales and awareness for events.
- Ensures integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion values in marketing and communication strategies.
- Partners with stakeholders to analyze data and monitor digital marketing initiatives.
- Manages email marketing and social media strategies, including engagement and analytics.
- Serves as staff lead for the Shubert Theatre Board Marketing Committee and collaborates on leadership initiatives.
- Oversees production of print materials and creates necessary graphics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and think creatively.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe Suite, Hootsuite, and similar programs.
- Knowledge of social media advertising platforms and digital systems like Google Analytics.
- Commitment to metrics and data-driven strategies.
- Working knowledge of web design and basic HTML/CSS.
Credentials and Experience
- BA in Marketing, Communication, Business, or related discipline; 7+ years in a marketing position, preferably in theatre or live events.
- Experience supervising professional subordinates and overseeing social media channels.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule.
