POSITION SUMMARY
The District Trainer is responsible for leading and developing the Center Store teams across the assigned district. This role focuses on training and coaching store teams to achieve operational excellence, drive sales, and ensure customer satisfaction. The District Trainer will act as the primary expert in Center Store merchandising and best practices within the district.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operational Excellence

  • Proven track of providing excellent results, shows persistence and perseverance. Proactive qualities and self-directed actions;
  • Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers. Demonstrates care and compassion for people; shows empathy and concern. Able to build and maintain positive team relationships, relates well to diverse people and is approachable;
  • Provide guidance to Department Managers to connect the metrics to business processes and focus on continuous improvement strategies to achieve business objectives;
  • Maintain all metrics on the weekly operations dashboard;

Center Store Department Training

  • Develop, deliver, and audit comprehensive training programs for store team members on all aspects of Center Store department operations, including:
  • Merchandising and presentation standards
  • Product knowledge and quality control
  • Inventory management and ordering
  • Computer Generated Ordering (CGO)
  • Shrink reduction strategies
  • Food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Customer service and communication skills

Team Member Development

  • Recruit, aid in selection of, orient, train, coach, and develop the best Department Managers to achieve store goals and ensure that the company has leadership talent;
  • Cultivate a culture of high performance and accountability. Set clear performance expectations for Department Managers;
  • Embrace positive employee relations through consistent and fair application of company policies and leadership values;
  • Provide advice and assistance to store teams to enable completion of responsibilities;

Training Store as a Model

  • Maintain impeccable merchandising and presentation standards
  • Achieve high levels of product quality and freshness
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Achieve strong financial performance
  • Serve as a "best practices" store for other stores in the district to observe and learn from
  • Provide professional service and training to the home store location, at least 3 business days per work week.

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Proven leadership and ability to motivate, inspire, and create engagement;
  • Exemplify the desired culture, value, and philosophies of the organization;
  • Effectively cope with change and lead company change initiatives across the district;
  • Able to see things in broad/strategic perspective, see trends and future consequences.
  • Develop improvement plans and programs with store leadership, and District Manager to ensure stores meet objectives;
  • Provide translation of communication between Store Support Center and store teams;
  • Implement policies and procedures;
  • Make recommendations to effectively resolve challenges or concerns, by using sound judgment that is consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, applicable government regulation or law;
  • Seek to make decisions in a manner consistent with the job functions;

Financial Results

  • Shared responsibility for P&L results and performance analysis;
  • Support programs to control shrink and contain costs at an acceptable level;
  • Review Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) with district team (Department Team Leaders);
  • Read, understand, analyze and instruct store teams about income and financial statements; and calculate gross margins and productivity measures;
  • Monitor operational standards and programs and follow up on operating performance of each store and store team leader to ensure that all stores meet sales, expense, gross profit and managerial profit contribution and EBITDA objectives;
  • Analyze financial data and determine areas of opportunity as well as plans for remediating performance gaps;
  • Work with store leadership to promote safety and ZERO accident culture;

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years' experience in a progressive operations role including managing different sales volume departments;
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and exhibit excellent multi-tasking skills;
  • Possess the ability to articulate the complexity of business needs and the capability to build/develop practical action plans based upon those needs;
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills are required;
  • Solid ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems on issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or applicable government law;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and Spanish;
  • Able to prepare effective written reports, correspondences, and presentations to management as required;
  • Proficient computer skills in the areas of e-mail, Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.) required;
  • Effective planning, prioritization, and time management skills with effective ability to follow-up on delegated assignments;
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Store Director and District.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use the hands to handle objects, tools or controls.
  • Successful performance requires vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is that typical of an office and retail store. The noise level ranges from quiet to loud.
  • Able to drive and flexible to travel to all company locations as required.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay Scale $16.00 to $29.00

The pay scale above is the hourly wage range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position. Within this range, individual pay is determined by location and other factors including, but not limited to, specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with California Labor Code § 432.3 and state and local minimum wage standards.
