Machinist

PURPOSE: This person will be responsible for machining, milling, and grinding operations. This position will report directly to the Lab Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

• Set up and operate a wide variety of shop equipment
• Machine complicated parts to very close tolerance
• Report problems to the Lab Manager

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a basic education with the ability to read, write, and understand written specifications and procedures
• Must have the ability to design and execute from verbal instructions
• Must have excellent mechanical aptitude
• Must be able to use various measuring devices (tape measure, micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators etc.)
• Must be able to use math to calculate dimensions and determine speeds and feed rates
• Must be proficient in the use of:
• Lathes
• Milling Machines
• Grinders
• Jig Mills
• Drill Presses
